Google Play service is known to crash in Phoenix OS for a long time whenever you receive an update from the play store either it'll fail to update or it'll crash the play store, the solution that CZ developers came up with they blocked play service from updating but then every time you boot the os play service will try to update itself & then fail, and it's necessary to update play service because it's used by play store and other Google services that's why in DarkMatter 4.7 & above release we've removed the play service blocking that was done by CZ developers now you can easily update play service from play store itself.
but the downside to this issue is sometimes there's a bug in Google Play Service itself so in that situation you need to manually update it to an older version of the higher beta version that might have a fix for your issue.
This extension is a small bug fix for crashing the Play Service in DM 4.7 it also contains the fix for the webcam, that some users were having in the chrome browser.
#Installation
The extension itself is not enough so you'll also need to follow these steps to completely fix your problem.
- Update Gearlock to the latest version.
- Open Gearlock & choose Game / System Tweaks then select > GoogleLess Mode and reboot your system to finish the process.
- After reboot Install the "Play Store and Webcam Crash Fix" Gearlock package and reboot again.
- Open Gearlock again and choose Extra / Misc Functions then choose option 8 > OpenGapps Installer> wait for the process to complete and make sure you've got a working internet connection.
- Reboot your PC after the installation is complete & login to the Play Store & see if your issue got resolved.
If GApps installer failed try it with an older release of gearlock & report the bug on our discord server or resource section of gearlock.
