I use a Surface Pro 3 99% of the time I keep it docked running a external monitor. The graphics are good with Mesa 20 but I knew I could do more. So I read drivers/gpu/drm/i915/params.c in the Linux kernel. I read you can disable power management and compression in the kernel command line. Since I have added this to my kernel command line the graphics are noticeably better and brighter. Cheers.
